Geography
The Dead Sea, located between Israel and Jordan, is the Earth's lowest elevation on land. Its surface and shores are about 430 meters (1,411 feet) below sea level. Although the Mariana Trench and Challenger Deep are deeper underwater, they are not considered part of the land surface. The Dead Sea is also one of the world's saltiest bodies of water, which contributes to its ability to keep swimmers buoyant.
